Day 30--Monday, July 7, 2003
Our last actions at the Riviera were to search out a free deck of playing cards for each of us and to make one final effort at winning big money. We then decided to tour the strip in the comfort of our air-conditioned car. We drove up and down the strip, staring at all the huge and elaborate casinos: the Venetian, the MGM Grand, the Bellagio, Circus Circus, Treasure Island, and on and on and on. Finally, after purchasing a huge amount of postcards and some greasy McDonald's breakfast, we were on our way.
Let me be the first to say that I have no idea what I was thinking when I planned our itinerary for this day. It was simply humanly impossible. Our original plan was to see the Grand Canyon, then drive to Four Corners, and then continue on to Albuquerque, where we would spend the night at a KOA. As anyone who has ever looked at a map of the Southwest could have told us, that simply didn't happen.
