Maine: August 1, 2003

A continuation of the cross-country adventure I shared with Ben during the summer of 2003....

Day 56--Friday, August 1, 2003

We got up and out mid-morning.  Our drive to Maine took us through Kennebunk, which we did not find to be very impressive, probably because we didn't stop and get out to look around.  We stopped at some little fast-food place for cheese pizza and a lobster roll for lunch before resuming our lengthy drive.

We learned that Acadia National Park did not accept same-day campsite reservations--figures, since this was the one and only site I hadn't reserved before leaving Indy.  We found a small independent motel near the park and checked in there.  The room was small, dim, and somewhat dingy, but it got the job done.  Ben drove to the park to make sure we could get in early the next day while I sat in the room and worked on school stuff.  When he got back, we finished off the leftovers of the cheese pizza and went to bed early.  Pretty simple day!
